During engine operation, blow-by gases, as well as oil mist from the rotating components of the engine, pass through the PCV valve and are routed back into the intake for the engine to burn off. This valve is known as a PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve. Engine manufactures have placed a valve on the engine block which releases this pressure. This creates a positive pressure in the crankcase. Make sure everything works and go for a test drive.Īnd now you have successfully attached an oil catch can to your engine.Īn oil catch can is used in turbo applications, or high-performance race applications where excessive blow-by (leakage past the piston rings) of air and fuel vapor occurs. Make sure all the tools are out of the engine bay, and then start the engine. Slightly close the engine hood and make sure the hoses clear the hood. Reattach the engine cover with 2 10mm bolts. Make sure the hoses are tight, then reattach the cross support with the 2 12mm bolts Grab the stock squeeze pins and slide them over the other end of the fuel hose.Īttach one end of the fuel hose into the first location. I used an existing hole in the engine bay, and a homemade bracket.Īttach the fuel lines to the catch can and tighten down with a flat head and a hose clamp. This once again gives you more room to work.įind your desired location, and mount. Then undue the bolts on the supporting beam. This gives you a lot more room to work with the necessary lines. Ran some Caulking and whammmo no more codes.įirst Remove your engine cover. Trust me I learned the hard way, after trying to figure out why my truck was running lean small air leak in the oil catch can. If not your truck will start throwing codes and piss you off. Whether this means running caulking or whatever you want to do make sure it is air tight when assembled. UPDATE: Before you start make sure the catch can is air tight. Here it is, dont be afraid to point something out.
